Friday! Our Salvation!!!

Today we woke up & realized that coffee was going to be a necessity, despite our current "debt diet" we have ourselves on. Yes folks we did it, we went to Dutch Bros. & paid them to make us each a large quad shot coffee! Was it worth it you ask??? OMG YES!! The coffee gave Kaden the energy he needed to get off to work & Summer the "get up & go" she needed to get the kids ready & off to the store (WalMart no less) for some much needed odds & ends. So, today is laundry day and we are short on laundry soap. As part of our "debt diet" we've figured out ways to save a buck or two. As part of this, we make our own laundry soap. We know this may seem obserd to some of you but we really think it works just as well while only costing us pennies each time we do laundry. In attempt to make sure you all get something out of reading our blog we wanted to share our recipe for our laundry soap. Try it & let us know what you think!

Laundry Detergent:

1/3 bar soap, 1/2 C washing soda, 1/2 C borax, & 2 Gal. size bucket

Grate soap & put it in a sauce pan. Add 6C water & heat until soap melts. Add washing soda & borax, stir until dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4C HOT water into bucket. Now add your soap mixture & stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6C of water. Stir. Let soap sit for 24hrs and it will gel. Stir the next day. Use 1/2C per load. *You can add essential oil to soap for desired scent.

Fabric Softener:

1bottle of your favorite liquid fabric softener
1 sponge cut in half

Place a small amt of fabric softener in a bowl. Use 1/2 the sponge to soak up the fabric softener. Simply place the sponge into the dryer as you would a fabric sheet. You can use the sponge for a couple of loads, then simply re-soak with fabric softener. This will stretch your fabric softener 2x's as long as if you used it regularly!
